My name is Ainslie Johnson and I am a Movement Science major in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan. I hope to attending medical school after receiving my undergraduate degree. I joined Dr. Byrd’s Lab last winter because I was curious about the research side of health care and wanted to gain hands-on lab experience. Since I started in the lab I’ve worked with purifying extracellular vesicles from study participants’ samples, and helped create a pipeline using R for analysis of gene expression data from several different datasets. This opportunity has taught me how to formulate scientific questions and how to problem solve as a member of a team. Outside of school and the lab I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing volleyball, and traveling.
